Challenge i: Common Language Instruction¶
Challenge
Teaching through a common language which has been learned by all, atleast to some extent.
Strategy
Identify and use a language that serves as a common medium for all students in the classroom.
Challenge ii: Bridging Teaching-Learning Gap¶
Challenge
Using simple words and demonstrations on a large scale and reducing the gap between teaching and learning.
Strategy
- Use visual aids and demonstrations
- Simplify vocabulary
- Bridge abstract concepts with concrete examples
Challenge iii: Word Choice Sensitivity¶

| Beliefs | Religious/cultural practices | Show respect |
Strategy
Focus on key ideas of subject content and NOT on individual ethnic groups.

Challenge
Teachers should help students see historical events from different perspectives. This is really a challenging task.
Recommended Strategy
Role playing has proved to be a powerful technique to help students gain understanding of a different cultural experience.
